Content, Context and Emotion

Content:
a)Goal
To convey artist interpretation about his painting and his imagination when he painted the painting

b)Style
Naïve art style:
- Vision childlike
- Characterized by a childlike simplicity
- The characteristics of naïve art are an awkward relationship to the formal qualities of painting
- Strong use of pattern
- Perspective non-scientific
- Simplicity
- Unrefined color
- Colors are characteristically bright

Naïve art in Malaysia:

Malay Village (Kampung)







-Locality with 10,000 or fewer people
-Came under the leadership of a penghulu(village chief)
-Typically contains a "masjid" (mosque) or "surau" (Muslim chapel), paddy fields and Malay houses on stilts (houses raised on piles over the surface of the soil or a body of water)
-Practice the culture of helping one another as a community (gotong – royong)
-Family-oriented (especially the concept of respecting one's family particularly the parents and elders),

d)Intrinsic Value
-When participant come near the coconut tree, the coconut will suddenly fall under the tree
-When participant come across the river by stepping on the stone, a number of fishes will jump out from the river
-Participant can hear the sound of water flow when they come near the river
-When participant entering the paddy field, a group of bird will suddenly fly out from the paddy field
-Participant can also pick and keep the coconut and some of the paddy and vegetable
-Participant need to knock the house’s door to explore inside the house. When they are inside the house, they can watch a several activities of the people inside the house like family eating together on the floor, perform solat together and a father teaching his children a Quran
-While participant walk around the house(s), they can watch several activities like people feeding their chickens and ducks, a lady drying clothes and kids playing upih (pinang (areca nut tree) leaf)
-While participant explore the jungle, they can see a mouse deer running away from them

-Young Adult
-18 – 24 years old (marketing view)
-Secondary or tertiary education level
-Seeking an establishment of own individual persona, behavior pattern and attitude
-Create identity on their own making
-Potential loyal follower both currently and in the future

-Playing with upih (pinang leaf) – one of them sitting on the leaf while the others pull it
-Can be found near the house
-5 – 6 boy age around 7 - 12 years old
-Wearing short pant, some of them wearing t – shirt and some are topless

-Buffalo

-Male buffalo age 4 years old
-Dark grey color

-Using natural materials such as various kinds of timber and bamboo
-Raised on stilts or piles

-Decoratively molded and colorfully tiled staircase
-Coconut trees, palm trees, banana trees

-Natural area – marshes
-Large quantity of water for irrigation
-Use swamp buffalo to plough muddy paddy field and for extensive tool

b)Culture
-Malay culture







-Wearing baju kurung (woman) or baju melayu along with kopiah (man). Also wearing trousers and shirt due to colonial influence
-Eating together with the family and sitting on the floor
-Economy base on plantation and fishing
-Practice Islam as a religion
-Practice the culture of helping one another as a community (gotong - royong)
-Barefoot and washing it when entering the house
-Greeting when meet

-Warm welcome and greeting from the villagers
-Smiley faces and ready to offer any help
-Natural sound from bird chipping, buffalo, river and sound of children playing happily

-Phenomenon that occurs when a substance absorbs radiation of a certain wavelength
-add brightness and color to our lives
